…..into my bedroom. And also Hayden’s. We knew that our roof would eventually need to be re-done, but we thought it was more like five years eventually, not next month eventually. From the ground, the roof really doesn’t look that bad, so we thought maybe there was a chance that we could just patch the roof, but…. not so much. From the tippy-top of the ladder, it looked like this: On the bright side, I’ve hated the brown shingles since… Read more »
Things finally feel like they’re starting to come together around here! We’ve had a very busy couple of months, and are moving forward on more than one renovation project. Here are a few of the highlights of the last few months: I decorated the outside of our home for the first time this Christmas with items that I picked up last January for 75% off. I love the simple decorations, and the clear lights lining the roof edges. I’ve been… Read more »
Ok, so I know I’ve said this a few times before, but this time I mean it. I have finalized the colours that we’ll be painting our house!! Yay!! Below is our palette: And here is my attempt at a photoshopped picture of our house, for those of you who are visual learners: Of course, we won’t be painting the brick until next year, but I’m SO excited to finally have decided on a plan of attack!
As promised, here are the pictures of our new front door, freshly painted with two coats of Behr Premium Plus, in Retro Avocado: I am so relieved to finally check this job off my to-do list!
Work has been steadily progressing on the veranda, so I thought I’d give you a little update. The railings are on, and just need to be trimmed. I finally finished stripping the beams today. What a big, crappy job in the crazy heat wave we’ve been experiencing! I literally had sweat dripping down my body the entire time I worked! I guess it didn’t help that I used a heat gun to strip the paint, lol. I am so not… Read more »
As I may, or may not have told you, I hate the front door that came with our house. It’s just friggin’ ugly. So Mike and I went to our local Restore, and bought an antique door. The best part? It came with antique hardware, which we plan to have re-keyed. I’ve been busily stripping our new door, and will soon begin sanding and painting it. I can’t wait to see it’s bright green goodness welcoming people into our home!… Read more »
Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! We had beautiful weather this weekend, which was nice since it was my sweet little lady’s 3rd birthday AND Ribfest! My kids just love going to Ribfest, and look forward to it all year. Isabella enjoying the wading fountain at Ribfest on her 3rd birthday I also got a tonne of work done on the veranda, which I’ll be showing you later this week. We’re getting very close to being ready to… Read more »
Hey there Internet friends! It’s been a busy week of renovation madness around here, and I figured I’d better get around to showing you some progress pictures of our veranda! Let’s take a look back at what the veranda looked like when we bought our house in December: Ugh, terrible and dangerous. The roof was beginning to pull away from the brick. No wonder, since it was being held to the bricks by nothing but 100 year old rusted nails!… Read more »
I’ve been spending most of my time on interior decorating, and have completely neglected the exterior of our home. But that is all about to change! This fall I’m planning on sprucing up the front of our home. This is the before picture: And here is what I’d ideally like the after picture to look like: In reality, I probably won’t be installing the lovely stone walkway, and of course, it will take the garden several years to mature and… Read more »
(This ol’ gal could use a little lovin’) Last August, my family and I moved back to our hometown, and into our little rental home. We hope to purchase our own home in a few years, but in the mean time, this house suits our large family perfectly. The location is ideal; close to a beautiful wooded park, a skateboard park, and just a few blocks from our children’s school. We can walk downtown in only about 15 minutes on… Read more »
