Yay, it’s the weekend again!   I have lots to do this weekend (what else is new) which should make for some good posts next week! Oh, how I would love to have even one completed room in this house!  Oh well, I guess all I can do is just keep working away at it; and religiously playing the lottery! 😉 Check out some of the posts I enjoyed this week: Check out this cool Ikea hack! Pretty paper punch… Read more »

I am in LOVE with these pillow covers I found on Etsy, from a shop called Sukan!  They are made from antique Turkish kilim (a type of rug), using wool and natural dyes.  I love how unique and beautiful each pillow is!  Here are just a few of the pillows offered by Sukan (click the pictures to link directly to the shop): Sukan / Hand Woven – Turki… sukan $59.95 USD Hand Woven – Turkish Antiq… sukan $129.95 USD Sukan / SOFT… Read more »

I found a link to this site on Twitter this morning, and I am so excited to share it with you! Jessie Hyde and her husband, Mike, are fixing up their house on the cheap, and doing an amazing job! They have an extensive tutorial on making your own poured concrete countertops, as well as lots of other great articles. In fact, since reading her posts on her countertop, my Mike and I are actually thinking of making our own… Read more »

Today’s post is just a quick little idea for thrifty artwork. If you recall our “before” house tour, you’ll remember that Mike’s office is right off of our living room and front hall entrance.  Mike is an MMA journalist, and trying to incorporate artwork and stuff into his office space that I can live with being seen from other rooms is difficult. Mike loves to collect old books, and over the years we’ve found several different vintage books about martial… Read more »

Hi everyone!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did!  We had the most beautiful weather the last few days!  On Friday night we went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2, and it was AWESOME!!  My kids got all dressed up in their Hogwarts robes and carried their wands; why I did not get a picture of this, I do not know. On Saturday, we took the kids to our local zoo, which… Read more »

Wow, I can’t believe it’s Friday again already! I have lots of work to do around this house this weekend, and hopefully I’ll get to do something fun with the kiddos.  I read lots of fantastic posts this week in blogland!   Here are a few of my favourites: Cute kitty beds I LOVE this chandelier! Alice in Designland showcases a home that I really would sell a kidney to own.  Seriously. The art of the vignette  This is such… Read more »

Work has been steadily progressing on the veranda, so I thought I’d give you a little update. The railings are on, and just need to be trimmed. I finally finished stripping the beams today.  What a big, crappy job in the crazy heat wave we’ve been experiencing!  I literally had sweat dripping down my body the entire time I worked!  I guess it didn’t help that I used a heat gun to strip the paint, lol. I am so not… Read more »

Ready to see some of my latest thrift store finds?   First up we have a little table that you may recognize from a previous post.  I bought it for $4! Next is a vase, also from the aforementioned previous post, which was purchased for 50 cents. I picked up this cute portable record player for my husband for $10.  He’s been pouting ever since the kids broke his record player 6 years ago, so he’s pretty excited to dust… Read more »

As I may, or may not have told you, I hate the front door that came with our house.  It’s just friggin’ ugly. So Mike and I went to our local Restore, and bought an antique door.  The best part?  It came with antique hardware, which we plan to have re-keyed. I’ve been busily stripping our new door, and will soon begin sanding and painting it.  I can’t wait to see it’s bright green goodness welcoming people into our home!… Read more »

Hey everyone!  Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  We had beautiful weather this weekend, which was nice since it was my sweet little lady’s 3rd birthday AND Ribfest! My kids just love going to Ribfest, and look forward to it all year. Isabella enjoying the wading fountain at Ribfest on her 3rd birthday I also got a tonne of work done on the veranda, which I’ll be showing you later this week.  We’re getting very close to being ready to… Read more »
